Junior Counselor Application |
Campers who will be ages 16-17 at the time of Camp and entering 11th grade or higher in Fall 2026 must apply as a junior counselor. Campers who are 16 at the time of Camp and entering 10th grade or lower in Fall 2026 may choose to apply either as a junior counselor or a camper. Campers who will be 18 at the time of Camp and entering 12th grade or higher in Fall 2026 must apply as an adult counselor. We require jr. counselors to have a "gap year" between attending Camp Celiac as a camper and volunteering as a jr. counselor. This means if your camper attended Camp Celiac 2025 as a camper, your camper should not apply to volunteer as a jr. counselor for Camp Celiac 2026. Instead, your camper can apply to serve as a jr. counselor for Camp Celiac 2027.
Note we always have more jr. counselor applicants than available space. We tend to give priority to jr. counselors entering college or 12th grade over jr. counselors entering 11th grade. But no camper is ever guaranteed a jr. counselor space. Our first priority is creating a staff that best serves our campers.
There is only one session for Jr. Counselors and Counselors: July 8 through July 14, 2026.
Counselors and junior counselors must arrive at Camp Celiac the afternoon of July 8th for orientation/training. Camp will end around 11:00 a.m. on July 14th.
Application Priority
Priority is given to junior counselors from Northern California. Due to high demand, we can only accept junior counselors who are medically limited to a strict, lifelong gluten free diet. Thank you for honoring this restriction.
Online application for junior counselors opens on February 1st. Your applicantion will not be considered for Camp Celiac until all four application steps are completed: (1) application form, (2) health history form, (3) medication list, and (4) application fee. If your junior counselor applies by February 14, 2026, we will email you by March 3, 2026 with your applicantion status.
After you complete the application process we will notify you by email as to whether we have a space available or whether your junior counselor has been placed on a waitlist. A space at Camp Celiac is not guaranteed until you have received an email confirming registration and space availability.
There is no cost to attend Camp Celiac, other than the $25.00 non-refundable application fee. If paying the fee is a hardship for your family, please email us at info@celiaccommunity.org to obtain a fee waiver. We rely on donations and grants to pay for Camp.
